Demi Lovato has reportedly settled a copyright infringement lawsuit with pop music duo Sleigh Bells over the song Infinity Guitars.
Vocalist Alexis Krauss and guitarist Derek Miller filed a complaint in California federal court in August (16), alleging Stars, the bonus track on Lovato's Confident album, has "virtually identical content" to the critically acclaimed Infinity Guitars from their 2010 debut album Treats. The plaintiffs also alleged that "signal decay and other sonic signatures" on the two tunes "transcend the realm of coincidence".
Sleigh Bells were seeking an unspecified amount in profits from Lovato's track and also filed for an injunction to stop future airplay. The defendants named in the lawsuit were Lovato, bosses at UMG Recordings, and producers Carl Falk and Rami Yacoub, who previously denied infringement in November, 2015 when Sleigh Bells took to Twitter to note the similarities between the two songs.
On Wednesday (12Apr17), the parties filed settlement papers in court and the undisclosed terms are reportedly in the process of being written, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
