Demi Lovato launched into an a cappella version of Paramore's Misery Business after the sound cut out during her DJ set on Tuesday (06Jun17).
The Cool for the Summer singer had a guest DJing slot at Emo Nite, a monthly dance party which celebrates the emo style of rock music that peaked in the 2000s. Demi, rapper Post Malone and hip-hop artist Sirah took turns on the decks at the Echoplex in Los Angeles, playing tracks by emo bands like Panic! at the Disco and All Time Low.
Demi was in the middle of playing Paramore's breakout 2007 single Misery Business when the sound cut out. But rather than let the technical difficulties ruin the party, Demi got down into the audience and led an a cappella version of the hit with the crowd joining in.
When they reached the point in the song where there is an guitar instrumental, she tells them, "We're going to sing it again OK? Technical difficulties... we're gonna f**king rock this s**t."
Video footage shows the crowd swarming round around her and trying to take selfies as she delivers her impressive rendition. Once the cover ends, the host thanks Demi for keeping everyone's energy up.
"Thank you @Sirah & @ddlovato 4 keeping the party going & singing when the sound went out during @paramore at #emonitela!" a tweet on the Emo Nite page read following by a video of her cover. Alongside the clip, a tweet read, "The sound went out last nite during @ddlovato's set but she kept the party going with an impromptu cover of @paramore's 'Misery Business'."
According to radio.com, she also jumped on the microphone to add her vocals to Underoath's 2004 song Reinventing Your Exit as it played to the crowd.
