Whitney Houston's mother has ended speculation about her granddaughter's health, revealing 22-year-old Bobbi Kristina Brown has irreversible brain damage following a near-drowning incident at her home in Georgia in January (15).
Brown has been fighting for her life ever since she was hospitalized on 31 January (15), but recent family reports suggest she's no longer in a medically-induced coma and is awake.
But her grandmother Cissy Houston tells TMZ.com the youngster remains unresponsive and is suffering from global brain damage.
Cissy says, "Meeting with the doctors and understanding that she can live in this condition for a lifetime truly saddens me."
Her remarks contradict those Bobby Brown made during a concert at the weekend (18Apr15), when he told fans his daughter was awake.
Houston adds, "I have just returned from visiting my granddaughter Bobbi Kristina in the hospital and while she is no longer in a medically induced coma she has a tracheotomy and according to the doctors she has global and irreversible brain damage and remains unresponsive.
"We can only trust in God for a miracle at this time. Keep us in your prayers."
