Ciara aspires to merge fashion and entertainment in harmony like Michael Jackson did.
The 30-year-old singer often makes jaws drop in head-turning sexy outfits, like a pale pink dress with an open neck at the ESPY Awards earlier this month (Jul16).
But the star also considers herself a tomboy, and is a big fan of late singer Michael's attention to detail when it came to his style. She recreated his tailored look when she paid tribute to the music superstar during her Jackie Tour in 2015, and hopes to be as influential as he was.
"I love Michael Jackson," she gushed to Footwear News when quizzed on her fashion icon. "I think he was the greatest performer to grace this earth. He found a great way to merge fashion with entertainment. What I loved about Michael is he found a great way of mastering branding, and he was very consistent with his creative ideas."
As for her favourite designers, Ciara names Donna Karan as someone's clothes who she loves to wear, along with Norma Kamali.
Footwear also plays a big part in Ciara's ensembles and earlier this year (16) she was unveiled as one of the new faces of shoe brand Keds. The canvas designs have been in the singer's wardrobe for as long as she can remember, so she couldn't believe her luck at being chosen to front the brand's campaigns as part of the Keds Collective project.
"It’s all about empowering females and representing the working woman (who) can put on a dress and heels, or in this case Keds, and put out a fire at the same time," Ciara explained. "The campaign represents a strong woman. As I put my life in perspective, and as a mom, it’s important we all encourage each other because we’re living in a time where women can do anything. It’s really amazing how the Keds brand speaks to that."
