Chrissy Teigen has given birth to her first child with husband John Legend.
The model/TV host welcomed daughter Luna Simone Stephens on Saturday (16Apr16) and took to Instagram.com to share the happy news.
"She's here," the proud mom wrote on the social media site. "Luna Simone Stephens, we are so in love with you! And sleepy. Very sleepy."
Chrissy and John, real name John Stephens, recently celebrated the impending birth of Luna with two baby showers, one in New York and one thrown by Kim Kardashian in Los Angeles.
The stars have spoken candidly about their desire to have a large family and their struggles to conceive. Chrissy underwent in vitro fertilization and they announced her pregnancy in October (15).
"I will say, honestly, John and I are having trouble," she said on her chat show FABLife. "We would have kids five, six years ago if it'd happened. But my gosh, it's been a process!"
Chrissy also revealed she chose to give her husband a little girl first because the 37-year-old "deserves" the close bond daughters typically share with their dads, but later admitted she didn't expect such a backlash when talking about the gender decision publicly.
"I think I didn't realize this is so not really talked about," she told breakfast show Good Morning America. "In my world it is, because everyone I know is going through this (IVF), so I said it so casually that I didn't anticipate all the people who'd never heard such a thing before."
However, the 30-year-old doesn't regret her comments and insisted she was happy to have inspired more open discussion about such scientific advances.
"It's interesting to spark conversation, get people talking about it," she said. "We're happy with our decision and we're proud of it. We're glad that we're living in a time that we can do such a thing, but yeah, it's weird, we definitely didn't anticipate any kind of backlash from it."
The couple wed in September, 2013.
