A representative for Chris Brown has dismissed reports suggesting the R&B star has axed a concert in Guyana amid fears of protests from women's rights groups.
The Kiss Kiss hitmaker was billed to headline a post-Christmas show in the South American country on 26 December (12), but promoters at Hits & Jams Entertainment have claimed that Brown had pulled out of the gig after facing criticism from activists and opposition lawmakers over his 2009 assault of his ex-girlfriend Rihanna.
The vicious beating on the eve of the Grammy Awards left the Umbrella beauty black and blue and led to charges against Brown and a community service sentence.
Although the former lovers have since renewed their friendship, promoters suggested locals had made it clear that he would face opposition if he went through with the scheduled show.
However, the singer's spokesperson is adamant his 2009 conviction had nothing to do with the cancellation, telling Eonline.com, "This concert was never confirmed. The promoter is being untruthful."
Brown has sparked rumors of a reconciliation with Rihanna in recent weeks after spending an increasing amount of time together following his split from his model girlfriend Karrueche Tran last month (Oct12). Rihanna even jetted to Germany to spend Thanksgiving (22Nov12) with the singer, although she has so far denied that they are a couple again.
