Model and actress Cara Delevingne has shot down reports she was fired from appearing on the runway at the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2014 for being the wrong size.

Sources told British tabloid The Sun the Suicide Squad star auditioned to become an Angel but was turned away for being too "bloated".

The lingerie company's bosses were so appalled by the article, they released a statement, calling it "a complete fabrication", and now Cara has posted an image on her Instagram account of a signed letter she received from Victoria's Secret CMO Ed Razek attacking The Sun's story.

According to the letter, Razek himself was the one who went out of his way to sign Delevingne up for the Fashion Show.

In the correspondence he sent to the Brit, he writes: "You were the first person invited, months ahead of anyone else."

Razek goes on to point out that Cara's schedule didn't work out because she was shooting a movie at the time, and so he had to pass on her.

"You would have made the show better, as you do anything and everything you’re involved in," he wrote.

He also extended an invitation for Delevingne to join this year's runway show in Paris on 30 November (16).

The British beauty added the caption: "It's shameless to discuss women's bodies just to sell papers."

It's not clear if Cara will be part of this year's Victoria's Secret Fashion Show - the first in the French capital. Model sisters Gigi and Bella Hadid, Kendall Jenner, Karlie Kloss and veteran Angels Adriana Lima, Alessandra Ambrosio, and Lily Aldridge will be among the models strutting their stuff on the runway, while Lady Gaga, The Weeknd and Bruno Mars will perform.
