The critically-acclaimed Captain America sequel has shattered April box office records nationwide with a $96.2 million opening-weekend take.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier stormed theatres on Friday (04Apr14) and has become the largest April debut on record.
Biblical epic Noah, which hit the top spot last week (30Mar14) drops to a distant second with $17 million, and Divergent is third with a $13 million weekend.
Religious film God's Not Dead and Wes Anderson's comedy The Grand Budapest Hotel round out the new top five.
Meanwhile, Captain America: The Winter Soldier has now netted over $303 million globally.
