Britney Spears' father has saved his daughter a major embarrassment after purchasing the rights to an incriminating video allegedly featuring her now-ex-boyfriend David Lucado kissing another woman.
The Toxic hitmaker, 32, revealed she is single again on Thursday (28Aug14), amid rumors suggesting lawyer Lucado had been caught on camera dancing and locking lips with a new lady.
The film footage, which was being shopped around to various media outlets, was reportedly shot in mid-August (14).
Jamie Spears, who has served as his daughter's conservator since her well-publicized meltdown in 2008, caught wind of the cheating allegations and successfully offered up big money to purchase the video and keep it private.
His representative has confirmed the news to TMZ.com, revealing he took the necessary steps to protect Britney from what could have turned into a huge tabloid scandal.
It is not known if other copies of the tape exist, but Spears Sr. has vowed to sue for copyright infringement if anyone publishes the footage.
The pop star, who currently splits her time between her concert residency in Las Vegas and her California home, began dating Lucado early last year (13), following the breakdown of her engagement to agent Jason Trawick.
