Rocker Brendon Urie is set to realize his Broadway dreams by making his musical debut in hit production Kinky Boots.
The Panic! at the Disco frontman will join the cast as factory boss Charlie Price next month (May17), and Brendon cannot wait to hit New York's famous theater district.
"This is a step in an exciting direction for me because I've always dreamed of being a part of Broadway in some way," he tells The Associated Press.
Sharing the news with fans via the band's Twitter page, he adds, "About to take on a life long dream & head to Broadway. Excited to join @KinkyBootsBway this summer as Charlie Price. See you all in NY!"
The Tony Award-winning play follows Price as he forms an unlikely friendship with drag queen Lola and agrees to start making high heeled boots to help save his family business from ruin.
Kinky Boots is adapted from the 2005 movie of the same name, which is based on a true story and starred Joel Edgerton as Charlie and Chiwetel Ejiofor as Lola.
The stage show features songs by Cyndi Lauper and a book by actor/playwright Harvey Fierstein.
Killian Donnelly is currently playing the part of Price on the Great White Way, opposite J. Harrison Ghee as Lola.
Urie will be keeping busy until he has to begin rehearsals for his new gig - he and his Panic! at the Disco bandmates are approaching the end of their Death Of A Bachelor tour, which will wrap on Saturday (15Apr17) in Sunrise, Florida.
