A biopic about Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown's tragic daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown is in the works.
Stuck in the Middle star Joy Rovaris will play Bobbi Kristina, while singer Demetria McKinney will portray Houston. The Wire's Hassan Johnson has been cast as Bobby Brown in the film Bobbi Kristina.
The small screen project will air on TV One this summer (17) and will provide an "intimate look at the highs and lows of parental, familial and romantic love complicated by fame through the eyes of a sensitive, vulnerable young woman".
"Bobbi Kristina's high-profile life - and untimely death - may have been shrouded in mystery, but this film will reveal her humor, quirks, deepest fears and longings," a statement from the network reads. "This film explores her fight to be seen, heard, loved and to survive."
The aspiring singer and actress was found unconscious in a bathtub on 30 January, 2015. Brown never regained consciousness and died later that year (Jul15), aged 22.
Bobbi Kristina was dating Nick Gordon at the time of her death and he will be portrayed by Grown Ups actor Nadji Jeter.
After Bobbi Kristina was hospitalized in January, 2015, Gordon was forbidden from visiting his girlfriend by members of her family.
In September (16), Fulton County Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford found Gordon "legally responsible" for Bobbi Kristina's death after a wrongful death suit, supported by her father, was filed against him in Atlanta, Georgia.
Gordon was ordered to pay $36 million in damages to her estate. He has never been criminally charged for her death but, according to People magazine, an investigation is still ongoing. Gordon has maintained his innocence throughout the ordeal.
