Blake Shelton has been hailed a "hospice hero" after staging a surprise meeting with an elderly fan whose dream was to attend one of the country star's concerts.
Brenda Roberts, 70, was treated to two tickets to Blake's show in Nashville, Tennessee on Monday (06Jun16), thanks to the generosity of staff at the Hospice Care Plus non-profit organization, who arranged for her to attend the show after learning it was on her bucket list of things to do before she dies.
However, Hospice Care Plus officials then went one step further by publicly appealing to anyone with music industry contacts who would be able to help organize a backstage meet-and-greet for Brenda.
Their Facebook appeal worked, and on Monday, Blake gave the female fan a huge shock.
Hospice Care Plus representatives have since shared a photo from the surprise get together online, with Brenda beaming with joy as the Honey Bee hitmaker poses on his knees and hugs her, as she sits in her wheelchair.
"Y'all, that's Mr. Blake Shelton hugging a delighted, tearful, and very surprised Brenda Roberts," the rep captioned the picture. "Blake Shelton, you're a hospice hero. Thank you."
Blake's special meet and greet occurred two days before he hit the stage at the CMT Music Awards in Nashville on Wednesday (08Jun16), when he was named CMT Social Superstar for his frequent, and often hilarious, posts on social media.
