Beyonce made her new documentary with her baby daughter in mind as she hopes her little girl will treasure the film as a personal family memoir.
The singer talks openly about her private life in new fly-on-the-wall film Life is But a Dream, which she premiered in New York City on Tuesday night (12Feb13), and she even gives a candid account of losing a baby before giving birth to Blue Ivy last year (12).
Beyonce has now revealed she hopes Blue, her only child with husband Jay-Z, will one day watch the film and enjoy seeing her mother talking honestly onscreen.
Speaking during the event at Manhattan's Ziegfeld Theatre, Beyonce told reporters, "I hope that she will see all of the beautiful times (and) all the tough times that led up to her being here... I'm hoping that... it can comfort her and inspire her in her life when she needs it."
The Crazy in Love star also revealed the project helped her move on from the sad times she went through.
She adds, "I really grew so much. This movie has really been my therapy. I've healed from so many wounds and I've been able to understand why some of the things I've been through, why I went through (them), so feel really proud, and hopefully I can inspire other people."
Oprah Winfrey was among the guests at the premiere, and she praised Beyonce for telling her own story, insisting the singer did a "much better job" than if she had entrusted the film to her, adding, "I wouldn't have been in the bedroom and in the closet and in the car and on vacation."
