Beady Eye star Gem Archer cheated death after suffering a fractured skull in a horrific fall down the stairs of his home, according to a U.K. report.

The guitarist was hospitalized last week (ends04Aug13) to treat a serious head injury, prompting the band to axe a number of shows including a massive gig at Britain's upcoming V Festival.

He is now resting at home as new details have emerged about his injuries.

Archer is said to have fallen down a staircase at his property and suffered a fractured skull, with a source telling Britain's The Sun, "It was a freak accident. Gem was at home with his family when he fell. The injury he suffered is very serious and his family were really worried. He's had several scans in hospital to ensure there's no longterm damage."

A representative for Liam Gallagher's band has confirmed Archer tripped and fell, and was not intoxicated at the time of the accident.
