Banda Ms and Yandel will be the ones to beat at the 2016 Latin American Music Awards after landing six nominations apiece.
Mexican singers Banda MS and the reggaeton star will face off in both the Album of the Year and Single of the Year categories at the second annual prizegiving in Los Angeles on 6 October (16).
Banda MS will vie for the title of Artist of the Year with Enrique Iglesias, J Balvin, Ariel Camacho y Los Plebes Del Rancho, and Nicky Jam, and they are also nominated for Favourite Regional Mexican Album, Favourite Duo or Group - Regional Mexican and Favourite Regional Mexican Song.
Yandel is also nominated for Favourite Urban Artist, Favourite Urban Album, Favourite Urban Song, and Favourite Collaboration for El Perdedor with Maluma.
Enrique Iglesias and Nicky Jam follow closely behind with five nods each, while J Balvin and Los Plebes de Ariel Camacho received four nominations.
Veteran Mexican crooner Juan Gabriel, who passed away on Sunday (28Aug16), was recognised in three categories - Favourite Male Pop/Rock Artist, Album of the Year, and Favourite Pop/Rock Album for Los Duo 2.
Show organisers are also planning a special tribute to Gabriel at the prizegiving, with additional performances from CNCO, Victor Manuelle and Dvicio.
Other multiple nominees include Pitbull, Gloria Trevi, Jesse & Joy, Gente De Zona, Prince Royce, and Maluma, while international artists Justin Bieber, Drake and Meghan Trainor are also up for Favourite Crossover Artist.
Drake's One Dance and Bieber's Love Yourself will also fight for the Favourite Crossover Song prize with Adele's Hello, while the Canadian rapper's rumoured girlfriend Rihanna is up for Favourite Dance Song with This Is What You Came For, her collaboration with DJ Calvin Harris. They will be vying for the trophy with The Chainsmokers and Daya's Don't Let Me Down and Zara Larsson and MNEK's Never Forget You.
The 2016 Latin American Music Awards will be broadcast live from Hollywood's Dolby Theatre and hosted by Mexican singer and actress Lucero.
