The Avengers sequel has blasted to the top of the U.S. box office with the second-best opening weekend haul ever.
Avengers: Age of Ultron has pulled in a staggering $187.7 million (GBP125 million) since opening on Thursday night (30Apr15).
Ironically, the film's predecessor, The Avengers, remains the only movie to rake in over $200 million (GBP133 million) in its opening weekend. Marvel now has the three best opening weekends ever - Iron Man 3 made $174.1 million (GBP116 million) when it debuted in May, 2013.
This weekend's second-placed film, Blake Lively's Age of Adaline, is a distant number two, taking in $6.3 million (GBP4.2 million) at the U.S. box office and four-week champ Furious 7 falls to three with $6.1 million (GBP4 million).
The fast-paced action movie has now made over $330 million (GBP200) at the U.S. box office and $1.4 billion globally.
