Ashlee Simpson is set to make a musical comeback with a joint project alongside her husband Evan Ross.
The Pieces of Me singer released her last album Bittersweet World in 2008, and she is now getting ready to share new material she has created with her actor/singer husband, the son of Motown superstar Diana Ross.
“We’re working on an album together. So in the new year, that will be happening! It’s been really fun to work together," she told Usmagazine.com "We’re doing this album together and then we’ll go off and do our own."
They describe their new material as “soulful, fun and reflective of music that (we) both like."
Ashlee has been raising their daughter Jagger Snow, 16 months, and her son eight-year-old son Bronx, from her marriage to Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz, and she admitted motherhood did take over her music career, but Evan disputed this saying, "I don’t think she ever really stopped. Music is something so important to both of us. So we’ll release this album and then she’ll work on hers.”
The 28-year-old, who had a role in the last two instalments of The Hunger Games, explains their joint project works well for them because it means they get to "hang out" and Ashlee, 32, is excited about the possibility of touring together.
Once the busy couple have fulfilled their musical projects, they are planning to expand their family.
Ashlee gushed how good Bronx is with his little sister, saying, "He’s honestly so good with her, it’s awesome. We do everything together as a family. The age difference doesn’t matter – she’s excited about anything he’s doing. And the three of us play games and she’s so happy to just hang out and chill with everyone."
Ashlee began dating Evan in 2013 before marrying the former 90210 star in 2014. She filed for divorce from Pete in 2011 after almost three years of marriage.
