Ashlee Simpson got into the Christmas spirit several months early by celebrating her 30th birthday with a festive party complete with fake snow.

The newly-wed marked the milestone on Friday (03Oct14) and she celebrated the night before her big day with a Christmas-themed bash in California.

Simpson's husband Evan Ross shared a picture of the couple and their friends posing in fake snow with a North Pole sign, fairy lights and Santa hats. He writes in the Instagram.com caption, "Last night made it @ashleesimpsonofficial favorite holiday Christmas in California (sic). It was a snowy one. Happy birthday baby."

A source tells E! Online, "They had real snow brought in. Ashlee wore a coat and played in the snow. They have huge candy canes all over, Christmas trees, colorful lights draped around."

Simpson married Ross in August (14).
