Ashlee Simpson and her husband Evan Ross are the new Sonny & Cher after hitting the recording studio together to work on a joint album.
The singer/actress, who welcomed the couple's first child last July (15), has not released any new material since her 2012 single Bat For A Heart, but she reveals she has returned to the recording booth to work on new music with Diana Ross' son.
"Evan and I are making an album together," she told AOL. "Both of us were in the studio separately, and then one day we were like, 'Let's go together!' It's been really fun to do it together. It's special.''
Ashlee did not share any details about when the project will be released, but it will be her first album offering since 2008's Bittersweet.
Jessica Simpson's younger sister turned her back on showbusiness to concentrate on family matters - she's mom to seven-year-old son Bronx from her marriage to Fall Out Boy rocker Pete Wentz and she wed Evan in 2014. The couple welcomed daughter Jagger Rose last summer (15).
Now she's back at work again, Ashlee admits she is enjoying juggling her personal and professional responsibilities.
She continued, "It's a good balance. Being a mom and having the kids and doing my music and going to the studio, you definitely have to have a balance in your life with everything.
"That's been something really important for me, and it's come naturally. My husband is also awesome - he helps out a lot!"
The husband-and-wife album will serve as Evan's first body of work, after initially beginning the recording process for his debut album in 2007. He released his first single, Yes Me, in 2011, but fans had to wait another four years before he shared his follow-up track, How To Live Alone, which featured T.I.
