Ariana Grande cried herself to sleep on Tuesday night (08Nov16) as it became clear Donald Trump would become America's next president.
Like many supporters of the Republican's rival Hillary Clinton, the Side to Side singer was devastated by the election results.
Admitting she had been "crying all night and morning", Ariana, 23, eventually found something to wipe away the gloom on Wednesday afternoon (09Nov16), sharing an Instagram image of a U.S. map that showed how people her age had voted.
She captioned the image: "It restores my hope a little bit that this is what our generation's vote looked like. it says to me that better times are coming... we just have to stick together right now."
"let's please be active and vocal every day toward making each other feel accepted and loved for our differences. not just on election day. please. it’s the only way we will be able to get through what could possibly be a very dark few years. If you are feeling how I am feeling right now, please know I am holding your hand from afar and I love you," Grande added.
She wasn't the only pop star shedding tears after Trump's win - Miley Cyrus sobbed during a video message she posted online on Wednesday as she shared her thoughts about Democrat Clinton's defeat, stating, "I still think in her lifetime, that she deserved to be the first female president, and that's what makes me sad, is that I just wish that she had that opportunity, because she's fought for so long and because I believe her when she says she loves this country.
"It's all she's ever done. She's given her life to make it better."
