Dad-to-be Matt Helders has bought pregnant actress Zooey Deschanel's former Los Angeles home for more than the asking price.

The Arctic Monkeys drummer, who recently announced he's set to become a first-time parent with his fiancee Breana McDow, reportedly paid $135,000 (GBP90,000) over the asking price after falling in love with the 80-year-old three-bedroom home.

Deschanel owned the home with her former husband, Death Cab for Cutie frontman Ben Gibbard. They split in 2011.

The New Girl star is also preparing to become a first-time parent with producer fiance Jacob Pechenik.
