Angelina Jolie has been blown away by the support and personal stories fans have shared with her since she underwent a double mastectomy last year (13).
The Oscar winner shocked the world by declaring she had undergone preventative cancer surgery in a New York Times article which was published last May (13).
She has only spoken briefly about the life-changing operation since the announcement, but now reveals the news inspired fans to talk candidly with her about their own personal experiences with the deadly disease.
Jolie tells Entertainment Weekly, "Wherever I go, usually I run into women and we talk about health issues, women's issues, breast cancer, ovarian cancer. I've talked to men about their daughters' and wives' health.
"It makes me feel closer to other people who deal with the same things and have either lost their parents or are considering surgeries or wondering about their children. I was very, very moved by all the support and kindness from so many people."
