Johnny Depp and Amber Heard are heading for divorce.
The actress has filed to end the couple's one-year marriage, citing irreconcilable differences and asking for spousal support, according to TMZ.
The couple wed in February, 2015, just over a year after Johnny asked Amber to be his wife.
The court documents suggest the pair separated on 22 May (16), just two days after the Pirates of the Caribbean star's mother died.
Betty Sue Palmer died on Friday (20May16) in Los Angeles after a long illness, aged 81.
Johnny had always been close to his mom and tattooed her name inside a heart on his left upper arm.
Amber, who met her future husband on the set of 2011 movie The Rum Diary, has not been by Johnny's side as he promotes his new movie Alice Through the Looking Glass, which hits cinemas on Friday (27May16), but no one saw the split coming.
Johnny was asked about the whereabouts of his wife at the premiere in Hollywood earlier this week (beg23May16) but he simply brushed off the questions by explaining she was working.
Representatives for the couple have yet to comment on the shock news.
Split rumors have dogged the pair for months and in December (15) Heard told Marie Claire, "I try not to react to the horrible misrepresentation of our lives, but it is strange, and hard."
This was Amber's first marriage, while Johnny was previously wed to sweetheart Lori from 1983 to 1986. He also enjoyed a lengthy romance with French actress and singer Vanessa Paradis, the mother of his two children, model and actress Lily and Jack.
Both actors have had a tough few months - as well as the marriage split and the death of Johnny's mother, they also faced serious legal charges in Australia after the actress smuggled their pet dogs Pistol and Boo into the country. She received a one month good behavior bond without conviction in court in Australia last month (18Apr16) after pleading guilty to producing a false document relating to the dog-smuggling case.
The couple also had to shoot an awkward video about Australia's quarantine laws.
