Troubled actress Amanda Bynes has told fans she has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder.
The Hairspray star was released from a psychiatric hospital last week (ends02Nov14) after being committed involuntarily for 17 days.
It came after 16 months of erratic behaviour, several stays in hospital, and even a denial from her own mother that the actress was suffering any kind of mental illness.
In a post on Twitter.com on Tuesday (04Nov14), Bynes writes, "I was diagnosed bi-polar and manic depressive (sic) so I'm on medication and I'm seeing my psychologist and pyshchiatrist (sic) weekly so I'm fine."
The star's troubles began last year (13) when she was arrested in New York on a drugs charge and was subsequently placed on a psychiatric hold in July (13) after starting a fire on the driveway of a neighbour's home in California.
She was later moved to a rehab unit until her release in December (13), and in April this year (14) her mother issued a statement insisting, "Amanda has no mental illness whatsoever" and blaming the actress' problems on smoking marijuana.
Bynes returned to a psychiatric hospital last month (Oct14) after accusing her parents of abusing her, and she was freed last week (beg27Oct14) after officials ruled she was fit for release providing her parents maintain their legal conservatorship over her finances.
However, the actress has sparked fears she is unravelling again, and she took to Twitter.com on Tuesday to accuse her parents of giving her just $50 a day to live on.
She writes, "I got discharged for not being gravely disabled... But I am conserved and my parents only give me $50 dollars a day and it's really annoying... I need to get an apartment and my parents won't give me access to any of my funds... My lawyer said if I comply with the courts and take my meds and see my psychologist and pyshchiatrist (sic) weekly then I will get unconserved (sic)."
Also in the rant, the actress claims she has been offered a record deal and plans to head to university to study psychology.
