Adele hasn't always wanted to be a singing sensation - she once considered a life-saving career.
The 27 year old singer has won 10 Grammy Awards and an Academy Award since her debut album, 19, was released in 2008, but although she has earned a position as one of the most significant musicians in modern history, the Rolling in the Deep singer wasn't always had music on her mind.
"When I was younger I wanted to be a heart surgeon because my grandad died," she explained during an interview with Sirius XM radio in New York City. "For a few years I put my mind to it that I was going to be a real heart surgeon and then I went to school, got to 13 and I was like, 'Nah, I ain’t doing that'.
"I think that anyone that commits themselves (to medicine) is, like, a don at that kind of thing. I lost interest in it."
Adele is currently promoting her third album, 25, which reaches listeners on 20 November (15).
