About this video

Like most members of the storied Coppola family, Robert Schwartzman (brother of Jason, son of Talia Shire, nephew of Francis Ford) is determined to make his own name in the creative world! To that end, Robert has broken away from his rock band Rooney and all the way to the Studio where he tells us about his debut solo album, 'Double Capricorn', and how he's donating ALL the proceeds to a worthy cause! He also shares the inspiration behind the album name, talks a bit about a film he shot with his cousin Gia (yes, another Coppola), and performs live in the Studio! Hosted by Oliver Trevena.

Robert Schwartzman

I'm waiting, waiting for nothing. You're leaving, leaving me hanging. When did your heart go missing? When did your heart go missing? I treat you like a princess, but your life is just one big mess. When did your heart go missing? When did your heart go missing?

Young Hollywood

I'm Oliver Trevena here at the Young Hollywood Studio with Robert Schwartzman. How are you?

Robert Schwartzman

Good, how are you?

Young Hollywood

Good. Well, we were just talking about being young again. Well, at least we're at Young Hollywood. That's good.

Robert Schwartzman

Yeah.

Young Hollywood

That's good. Well, you're younger than me.

Robert Schwartzman

Am I?

Young Hollywood

You are actually younger than me, yeah. You're how old now?

Robert Schwartzman

29, yeah.

Young Hollywood

31, you see.

Robert Schwartzman

31? Yeah.

Young Hollywood

We've both just said our real ages on camera. That's true. That's very rarely happens in Hollywood.

Robert Schwartzman

It did. Yeah.

Young Hollywood

When did your heart go missing? We know you from Rooney. This is your moment, isn't it? As Kelly Clarkson would say.

Robert Schwartzman

It feels good.

Young Hollywood

It does it feel good?

Robert Schwartzman

It feels better than it's ever felt before. Really? No, it feels good. I mean, it's I started Rooney in high school. Right. And um and it was we spent a lot of time like touring, a lot of time making music together and then um But it's, you know, it's nice to grow up with your friends and then make music together.

Robert Schwartzman

Our lives are gone. It all won't last. You don't have to lie. No, you don't have to lie.

Young Hollywood

Oh. Double Capricorn is the album. Double Capricorn. And why double Capricorn? Are you a Capricorn?

Robert Schwartzman

I'm a double Capricorn.

Young Hollywood

What's a double Capricorn?

Robert Schwartzman

Well, it's like It's pretty cool. I mean, my mother like likes to do sometimes she thinks she knows how to do a chart, someone's chart where you plug in like they're where they're from, where they were born, and the time, and location. A lot of people just read a horoscope and they're like, "Oh, you know, I'm a I'm a Sagittarius, so this is what it says this month." But it's more decent. But it's really more It's way more detailed. Like if you have all the facts and all the details, you can plug in and do your chart. Okay. But she would always say, "You're double Capricorn." And I thought as as my first solo record, I would just put it all on the line.

Robert Schwartzman

Live like a live in your life. Live like a live in your life. Live like a live in your life. But you're already gone. I told you over and over again. I never owed you a saw you a thing. When I want you to go, you tell me no. Never said, "I told you so." I never should have took it in. There ain't a place you never been.

Young Hollywood

And the most important thing about this record is it all goes to the charity that you're working with, the Tibetan Healing Fund, right?

Robert Schwartzman

Yeah, totally.

Young Hollywood

Which is amazing. All of it. Not like a percentage.

Robert Schwartzman

Yeah, it's good.

Young Hollywood

The whole lot.

Robert Schwartzman

Exactly. Exactly, yeah. This uh charity, it's called the Tibetan Healing Fund. And um it's a it's a wild story. And I'll tell you the story. If I can.

Young Hollywood

Tell me, tell me. Go for it. It's crazy. Go for it.

Robert Schwartzman

My mother, uh we grew up in Los Angeles. Right. I'm from the city. She loves to have uh now that all the kids are grown up and left and out of the house, she loves to have interesting people stay at the house. A friend of ours knew a Tibetan monk. He was coming to he was going to UCLA to get his PhD. And he wanted to stay at the house. He's a senior monk. He's not like a young He's a senior monk. He's been through a lot. He's he's a doctor in Tibetan medicine. He teaches at university in Tibet. Well, so I went there last year and uh got to see what he was doing. He was kind of shy. He didn't really talk about what he was doing while he was here in LA. But he was with us for four years, got his PhD. I was making my record at the time, Double Capricorn. And I felt like um maybe there's a way to marry the two where I could raise money for what he's doing and help build maybe another birthing center or more money to help make these visits they make. I most people I talk to, fans who have met at shows, everyone kind of has a weird perspective of where money goes for music. Right. This way it's very clear it's going to it's going to

Young Hollywood

Exactly. Everyone knows that it's going. Exactly. Doing a good thing.

Robert Schwartzman

4:00 a. m. Remember when you took me into the I get the in the car like a more I get your motor roll out roll out we in.

Young Hollywood

Movies as well. You're back to it a bit, haven't you?

Robert Schwartzman

Mhm.

Young Hollywood

Any going into that anymore?

Robert Schwartzman

Yeah, yeah, totally. I shot a short film recently uh for uh my cousin, her name's Gia Coppola. She's an incredible up-and-coming director. And uh we went to Vegas, we shot this short and then um so it's cool. It's really good. It's it's a really cool project and there's other things in the works.

Robert Schwartzman

You don't have to lie. Living, living, living, living. You don't have to lie.

Young Hollywood

Oh.
