Young Hollywood

I'm Oliver Trevena here with Young Hollywood, with the legendary Peter Frampton and his uh son that's following in them footsteps.

Peter Frampton

Still not slowing down. Um no. I, I can't do that. No. Um it's just uh it's my fuel, I think. You know, it's just music is uh ever since I started, you know. So it's

Young Hollywood

Whether there's an audience or not, we're still doing music, right? I love that. And uh you're, you're actually joining your dad on tour for a few days.

Julian Frampton

Yeah, yeah. I started last year and did a few last year and now I've done uh I think four this year and I'm gonna do about five more.

Young Hollywood

There you go. Yeah. How's that on tour?

Julian Frampton

It's amazing. I mean it's uh I didn't expect to jump in to such a large crowd out of nowhere. And it's not my crowd, it's his crowd. So I'm, they've been very gracious all his fans and accepting the song that I perform on stage and stuff, so it's been it's been a pleasure. It's great.

Young Hollywood

Yeah. It must be amazing for you dad as well.

Peter Frampton

It's killer. It's like bonding time but it in a public eye, I guess. You know.

Young Hollywood

Yes. I have the same with my dad but it's more karaoke pubs. It's not. But I like to think that they're fans, the same as, you know. Peter, your new uh, Thank you, Mr. Churchill. Yes. Um your new record. Um tell us a bit about. It's a very big CD, isn't it?

Peter Frampton

It's a uh it's it is a big CD. Yes. We've gone back to vinyl. Do you believe that?

Young Hollywood

I love it. I do too. Look how amazing this is. It's great. It's a piece. Now you got a you can actually look at a piece of artwork again. And you look so youthful on the cover.

Peter Frampton

That is that that is a stunt me.

Young Hollywood

Oh that's not you.

Peter Frampton

That's not me, no. It's it's a stunt me. We couldn't find me looking in that particular pose because I was just back there with the makeup artists, if I could use that. That's uh that's great. Yeah, I never was that close to a Spitfire. We couldn't grab that shot.

Young Hollywood

Oh that's not that's super imposed. Technology nowadays. Amazing.

Peter Frampton

Yeah. It's amazing.

Young Hollywood

So um it's terrible, isn't it? I mean what you can do. Did you always think that he'd go in a following your footsteps?

Peter Frampton

No. Um I, I didn't because I'd given him a guitar very early on just so he had it and nothing really um happened for this, this was you were very young when. Oh yeah. He picked it up and I couldn't do the solo in "Do You Feel". And I'm like, wait a minute, I can't do it. And then I put it down. And that was it. So and then all of a sudden he called me up one day um and said, Dad I I think I I know what I want to do in music. I want to play drums. I said, Oh God. So, um.

Young Hollywood

Not nice, not noisy.

Peter Frampton

Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. So, um, I, but I got him a drum kit and um it was uh he became very good very quickly and then we started jamming with me on guitar and him on drums. And and then it wasn't too long after that that uh you know, or two after that, that Said, Dad, I've got this song I want to play you on guitar. I like, you know. And that was uh that was it.

Young Hollywood

Um Peter, how's it feel when you hear like your songs covered and stuff like that? Do you ever hear it and think, oh no, he did it.

Peter Frampton

Um, well, I have to say that there's there's only been a couple that I, you know, have it's always an honor when someone goes about doing a cover of a song. Um uh but um Big Mountain did a cover of um of "Baby, I Love Your Way" and Yeah. I thought it was I thought it was the perfect production. Uh I mean, it's much better than my version, I thought, as as far as a radio hit, you know.

Young Hollywood

Um any desire to cover one of his albums?

Julian Frampton

Uh not at the moment.

Young Hollywood

Any desire to cover any of my songs?

Peter Frampton

Well, you know, I I know we've we've talked about um uh one of one of the songs that you like from when I was in Humble Pie, "I Believe". Yeah. We've talked about doing it together. Yeah. We do. Because I can't do the hard parts anymore and and like doing it as a duet, doing it as a duet.

Young Hollywood

Well, obviously a family of talent. Um I'm now being insecure about doing the whole karaoke thing with my dad because you guys are making records and stuff like that. But it's fine. We'll come see you guys. Thanks for coming in.

Peter Frampton

Oh, it's a pleasure.

Young Hollywood

Good luck with uh your future. And your future. God bless you. Thank you. Love it. Good to see you.
