She's a miracle. She got everybody talking. She don't care at all. Watch the way she's walking. Oh she's a classic girl.
Good to see you. Nice to see you. My goodness, you have been busy.
I have. I've been been working a lot.
You have no time for golf because the last time you were here, we talked about your golf game.
I got one round in on my birthday, which was April 9th, my 27th birthday.
Happy birthday.
Thank you. I got a nice round in. Did okay. I just you know, it's been a while.
You must really like it if that's what you do on your birthday.
Yeah, well, it's the only time that my team will like actually be okay with me doing something, you know, for myself. Right. Your birthday, you get the day off.
So, super bad, it's a new single. Yeah. And it's And the song is incredible. I feel like there's a summer anthem is going to happen.
Thank you. I hope so. She's divine. All the time. All the time. And everything she does is always by design. My girl is super bad. That's a fact. Knock your train right off the track. Watch out. It kind of has like a I don't know, has like just an old school kind of feel to it and sound to it, you know, super bad. I feel like it was like a It was like I think like a 70s slang term.
Well, it's interesting that you say that because didn't you draw inspiration from sort of the 70s and old school music and pop and so what how did that come about?
Going into this record, I knew I wanted to make something that's sort of you know, was a reflection of what I grew up listening to, which was Earth Wind and Fire and Michael Jackson and Prince. And that going in, I worked with this amazing group of producers called The 11 out of New York and we collectively, you know, decided that we wanted to make that kind of record. There was a lot of live instrumentation, a lot of live funky guitars like you heard. And I heard that you play this live a lot on the new album that's coming out. Tons of live everything, horns even too, which really kind of helped crystallize that sound of the time of that time, you know. So, um, the full album in Technicolor is coming out in July and, you know, it's been a long time since I put anything out.
In Technicolor. What is Where does the name come from?
So, I had this theory that everything that we do on this planet really is for somebody else. At a certain point, like I think you you want, you're seeking somebody else's approval. You want you want to make sure that you're accepted for who you are. And and and until that moment happens, like everything's in black and white and that's really the color that happens that's finding that somebody is really what puts the color into your life. And it was just I feel like a great title for this themed album, which was this retro sounding record. You feel me? My girl's a supersonic sex machine. She'll put the Technicolor in your screen. Yes, she's a super psychedelict dream. My girl is super, super, super. My girl is super bad, superstar. Got no time for photographs, watch her.
When you go on tour this summer, if you could have, cuz you know, it's like people are doing this now like Beyonce and Jay-Z are going to go on tour together. If you could have somebody come on stage with you this summer just jam for one song, who would be your Who would be a cool person to have come jam with?
Honestly, I mean, I'd love to fill in for Jay-Z a couple nights and just get up there with Beyonce. That'd be real nice.
So get Jay-Z out of the way. Step aside, Jay. That's a good one too. That wouldn't be bad, right?
I'd love that. He needs a night off.
He does. He does. She you know, she needs to get drunk in love with somebody other than her husband once in a while, you know.
And everything she does is always by design. My girl is super bad. That's a fact. Knock your tray right off the train. Watch out.
And last but not least, I know the video. I think you've said it's like a day in the life.
Yeah. Kind of like a few So the video we shot here in Beverly Hills, we got this amazing mid-century home, um, up at the top of the hills here and, um, and it was sort of a day in the life of, you know, me and and my girl. And so it picks up from us coming home from Vegas and we've just come from shopping in this brand new Alfa Romeo, this gorgeous car, uh, in this like British green color. And we come home and she does this huge fashion runway show for me in like all of the clothes that we just purchased.
And when you say day in the life, what's a day in the life like for you? I'm sure every day's different, being like whether or not you're on tour.
It's not nearly as glamorous as the music video. Let me tell you.
Ever happened to you before?
No, it's, you know, for me the last couple years it's just been like a daily grind of like in the gym, in the studio, late night in the studio, back, wait, you know, come home, try to eat some food, go to bed, do it all over again for like a year and a half, two years straight. Working hard, but it's going to pay off.
Working hard, but hopefully this year it pays off. huge summer anthem. Super bad's going to be the one and people are going to be talking about it, using it in expressions.
I hope so. You're bringing it back. I think so.
Thanks for coming in. Great to see you. We got to get out golfing or shopping.
I know. I need another get another round in.
Let's shop instead.
Watch out.
