Hey, it's Tracy Van. I'm hanging out with Jason Ritter at the Young Hollywood Studio. So your show, The Event, is about to premiere on NBC and everyone's just buzzing like crazy about it.

Yeah, it's it's exciting. Yeah, I can't wait to finally show everybody so that uh, you know, there's a there's a lot of talk about it which is great but I'm always more about the actual thing getting out there.

Yeah. So we hear it's really secretive though. So everything on the show seems like super mysterious and secretive. So what can you tell us about what's going on?

Uh, I can say it's uh, I mean, there's a conspiracy. My character basically stumbles upon the the biggest cover-up in US history. Right. And, uh, you know, like you do. But it's it's a lot of fun. And the cool thing about it too is that a lot of things are revealed in the second episode. So especially I'm really excited once the second episode airs cuz I'm gonna have so many more conversations about it.

So is it true that you couldn't even actually share the character bios with your other castmates?

Yeah, it was totally. Like people just come on the set and you're like, who are you? What are you doing? Yeah, yeah. And I, you know, you never know who's gonna be there for one episode or who's gonna be, you know, a recurring character who's in on the whole conspiracy. So yeah, you start to get like paranoid and you know, nervous about the people who you're working with.

Yeah. You're more than just a CIA, aren't you?

What are you talking about? I'm just a regular guy. That's crazy.

So your actual character, is it pretty much like you in real life because they wanted to just a real kind of down-to-earth guy. What what was it when you read the script that you're like, this is the perfect role for me?

You know, he's he's a he's a guy, I mean, there there are all these crazy circumstances that he gets involved in where he has to do things like Right. you know, jumping off cliffs and all these things.

So were you already, did you were you already in shape for this or did you have to do a whole big preparation to get yourself ready?

They, I had to do a whole big preparation.

Walk us through it. How how did that happen?

It was, you know, I I had already started to try to, just in my life by myself, try to get a little bit more in shape. And, uh, but and I thought I was doing an okay job but a couple days into shooting the pilot they were like, oh, we got you a gym membership and a private trainer and uh, here's the cleanse that you'll be on. I'm like, oh, okay. So they just wanted the the, you know, me to take it to another level, I guess. So, and I'm still going to those classes. It's it's fun. It's like hip hop and martial arts. Yeah. Yeah, it's I I look totally ridiculous while I'm doing it but it it works.

Show us the moves.

Oh man, it's not like this kind of stuff. Uh, you know. Hard to do it sitting down but it's fun.

So one last thing we want to ask you that we usually ask everybody. Um, you know, what's your advice to young Hollywood out there who are trying to make it and kind of get into the business?

I mean, I think that certainly an avenue toward success that I've seen work is is to not think that that your success depends on someone else giving you permission. I mean, more and more especially with the internet and like Facebook and Twitter, it's empowered all of us to get in touch with everyone in the world ourselves, not through, you know, a movie or or a TV show. And and, uh, you know, it's you've seen over and over again, people have just putting up videos that they know are good and funny on YouTube and then it, you know, it gets them recognition and, um, yeah, I think I think making your own work is the best you that you can do. You know, find get a bunch of friends that you all that you like and you work well together with and you know, all buy a camera together and and just trade it off and start making your own work.

Yeah, good advice.
