AJ here, Young Hollywood Studio at the Four Seasons Hotel, with Jason Dolley from Good Luck Charlie and like everything else on the Disney Channel. Technically, it's a little crazy, all the, all the different Disney things you've done.
Yeah. I've been around, you know. That's a good thing.
So let's talk about the show real quick. Um, you play the older brother, but in real life you're the younger brother. You've got a bunch of, of older brothers in your life. How how do you how do you make that work?
It's, it's kinda cool cuz I, I can relate to my character PJ, cuz like we're both from families with four kids, but from different perspectives.
Now, now you got a bunch of different talents we gotta talk about. Like the Rubix Cube thing. You can really do it in a minute. That can't be true.
I I I can, I can really do it. I'm out of practice now. So if you gave me one now it may take me a minute or two, but um my, my record was 37 seconds.
And how about your yo-yo tricks? What's, what's the secret to all
Yo-yo, yo-yoing was was my thing back in like, like elementary school. Like we I had a, even, even like junior high school. Like we had, you know, we we started with the Duncans and you know, the the Brock and the Baby in the Cradle. But it got pretty intense. There's a thing called the Mach 5 or you like
What's the Mach 5?
It's, you know, it's really hard to explain, but like with the, with the barrel roll, you're flipping the the yo-yo from string to string, and it's hopping back and forth. And then the Mach 5, you just kinda like stick them together and it's like hanging, it's just chilling there in the middle. And then it's spinning around.
I hear you're a huge Batman fan.
Oh my gosh. A little bit too huge in in some respects. You know, I think it kinda started with um, with Batman Begins. The the Christian Nolan film. And then it just blew up with with The Dark Knight.
Yeah. Cuz it was just so much better than all the others.
Yeah, it it really was. I was like, all right, you know, maybe check out some of the comics and see what I can see. And I just started I loved them. I just devoured them. And uh I have probably 15 or 20 graphic novels at my house that are all Batman.
Mornin' dad. You gonna get to that lawn today? You know, when someone says good morning, the traditional response is good morning back. Sorry. You gonna get to that lawn today? So what's it like now being like the show everybody's talking about? Cuz there's a lot of buzz around, and we keep hearing the buzz, it's the next great thing and watch out for it.
It's really cool. And and honestly, not to say that I knew it was coming, but it was sorta from the very beginning. This was sorta a a different avenue for the channel. It was something that was designed to to fill the the gap of the of the family sit-com. It's more about getting families to watch together. Um, the parents have have more prominent roles than than other uh Disney shows. And it's it's really about getting families to sit down and watch TV together.
Are you getting the music bug at all? Cuz I know you're you're playing guitar a little bit on it.
No. Honestly, like I love music. I play guitar and I play piano. I love music. But that's not really I don't know, it's like not my passion. It's not like something I'm like, you know, itching to to go right to.
So what is your passion?
My passion is acting.
If you weren't an actor, what would Jason Dolley do?
I'd probably, honestly, I'd probably be like a philosophy teacher.
Wow.
Cuz I'm I'm I'm taking classes in philosophy right now. I'm taking at at at for college. And it's awesome. I love it.
What advice would you have for young Hollywood? Anyone out there that that's trying to make it, break into the business. What would you say is the best way to go about doing it?
Uh, you know what? It's a A, it's a full family commitment. You have to have your whole family on board cuz I my family has been incredibly supportive from the very beginning. And number two, you have to be really motivated. You have to take every audition seriously. You have to um give up maybe going to a friend's birthday party to go to an audition. There's just a lot of sacrifices that you have to make um in order to to to really see any progress and see any results. So you have to be very committed. It's a very big commitment.
There you go. Commitment. Jason Dolley. Good Luck Charlie. Later.
