"Hairspray Live!" Stars Can't Stop the Beat

Hey, what's up, guys? Nicole Kotche for Young Hollywood, and we're here at the Hairspray Live red carpet. Let's go! Actually, wait a second. Now we're ready. All right, guys, look who I'm with right now. Corny Collins. How are you?

Good. I'm great.

We're here. We're here. Everybody, look at who I'm standing next to, it's Link Larkin. Hi. That was awkward, wasn't it? You're a little awkward, but I know that. We know that. Cuz he was in our studio at Young Hollywood not too long ago.

Oh, wow. Okay.

There was a like a lazy eye situation, remember? We all tried it with you.

Yeah, my lazy eye. Yes. Okay. I forgot that one got brought up. Great. That's on the internet.

Oh, oh, oh. I woke up today. Look who I'm standing next to. Tracy Turnblad. This is why you're in that role and I'm not. Because I I I try to impress you.

That was so sweet. I love it.

What do you think that you're going to bring to the character specifically?

Just bringing the positivity into Tracy is the main thing. I'm hoping that some people, maybe who don't believe in equality and love for everyone, um maybe we can change something in their hearts.

So, we're all wondering, what do you think you're going to bring specifically to Corny Collins that maybe someone else hasn't before?

Um he dances a little bit more. Just a little bit more. And sings a little bit more too. There's another song that he's singing in this and uh yeah, it's it's exciting. It's a lot of fun.

What would you say your favorite song of the musical is right now?

There's so many. Oh my gosh. I mean, it might be a song that like Maddie sings or Christian Chenowith is phenomenal. And Jennifer Hudson, of course, you know, the songs she sings is just so heart wrenching that, you know, we all are moved to tears in rehearsals almost every single time. But then you got the classics, you can't stop the beat, you know, nice in town. I mean, there's so many good there's so many good ones.

So, the last time we saw you it was still pretty early with Hairspray. Are there any maybe like funny moments on set that has happened recently?

We had to do this thing where we danced around the back of people. We hit each other in our ankles and we just like toppled over. So, between that happening to me and me getting food poisoning last week. Oh, no, it's okay. F you life. I'm I'm not letting nothing bring me down.

And then I just want to know. So, if you can put the entire show in like one facial expression. Does that work? I love that. Like mine would probably be like
