Not exactly like lighthearted matters we're talking about in this movie. It brings to light a very important historical event, the Armenian Genocide. So tell me what drew you to this project in the first place?

Um, I mean it was a bit surreal. I was on a road trip in Iceland when I received a call from my French agent saying that Terry George, the director, wanted to meet me to do a Skype to talk about his upcoming First World War movie alongside Christian Bale and Oscar Isaac. And I was just like, you're lying. You're definitely lying. And and and it happened. And then two weeks later I was in a room doing a chemistry test with Oscar. This one I was, I was sure it was just like, this is the end of my career right here. I was sure Oh, my God. And then two weeks later I received a phone call from Terry saying that I got the part.

I'm so happy we get to meet when I'm not teaching.

Yes, it was a surprise.

Were you fans of their work before?

I mean I love everything he did in David O. Russell's movie. I think he's really, really amazing. And the the Cohen Brothers movie with Oscar Isaac. I mean I was a huge fan of both actors before I got to work with them. So it was really intimidated intimidating. And but um, and I remember sending a mail to Oscar and Christian saying that, oh, I'm really intimidated but I'm really excited about working with you guys. And and Oscar wrote to me like in a matter of hours. He was really nice and saying, oh, it's the same for me. I can't wait, you know, to meet you or, you know, something very sweet and generous.

Oh, that's great.

And and Christian just never answered back. It's okay. I heard he has a Hotmail account. So I mean like

Yeah, probably. Or Caramel. You know, exactly. He's a homing pigeon. I mean maybe he'll respond to that. I don't know.

But I remember the first day I saw him, I think that when he's not shooting, he just let his body hair grow. So his hair was just like there and his beard was there and he looked like Jesus. Yeah. And he was like the six six foot tall Jesus. Like super thick with this big torso.

Oh my goodness. That's not intimidating at all.

No, not at all. Yeah, not a good time to mention the email. But in the end, Christian Bale, I can say that he's just one of, he's he's the most professional actor I've ever worked with. He's super generous, always on time, super funny, very, very funny, always goofing around. And I was probably his best audience, you know, during the whole movie. I was always laughing.

Amazing. Love hearing that. You have an interesting background. You're from Montreal. A city I love. We were just talking about how pretty much everybody from Montreal is beautiful. Um.

And you were also a television host. Or you were a weather girl. Is this for Antonell Blue?

I know that here it sounds a little bit exotic to say that I was that I was a weather girl but I was a weather girl. I It wasn't really a weather girl. It was just it was a daily news show. Um, a very serious daily news show where each night I was going on live TV and I was doing a two-minute sketch and at some point I was just giving cards with, you know, the weather on it. But that's it. And but it was really it was like a comedy.

So you were actually like reporting weather. Right? Okay. Okay.

No. I mean, I've got I have no nothing about, you know, me at all. weather. I don't know nothing about it. So it was just I was writing my own sketch and doing it on live TV. That was basically my acting school because I did 200 sketches in one year on live TV.

Amazing. How did that help you into doing features then?

Uh, I mean I think it was it started in France and because I was on TV every day and it was a very well-watched show. Right. Um, it was a window. I mean for producers and and casting directors to see me and because I was going very, very far into my sketches and being really ridiculous.

So before we go because in the movie The Promise, uh, your character has to make a choice between two. So we're going to do a little choose between two. I'm going to throw out some things. Yeah. And have you choose? So, chocolate or vanilla?

Chocolate.

Me too. Me too. Well, I'm a swirl. I like chocolate vanilla swirl. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Right in the middle. Yeah.

Exactly. Just like my character. It's good.

Vacation-wise, beach or wine country?

I live in France so beach. Nice. Or we have good wine country too in France. Wine country? Wine country. Like going to the countryside. Yeah, but I mean I'm surrounded by wine in France. So why would I go to wine country?

Coffee, definitely.

And blondes or brunettes?

I mean, brunettes. Obviously.

Obviously. Okay. So what's the one phrase I need to know in Quebecois? Uh, what could it be? Or how would you say more poutine, please? Because I I feel like that would have come in very handy.
