Donald Faison Keeps the TV Torch Lit

But why would you want to go from living with, I mean, we think it would be better off just staying in the marriage and just not having to go and live with the dudes.

You ever been married?

No.

All right, enough said.

Enough said.

What's up, guys?

Nicki Novac here in the Young Hollywood Studio with Donald Faison.

How's it going?

How are you, Nicki?

I'm good.

Nicki Novac, that's like a superhero name.

That's like the alias right there.

I liked Donald already.

Yeah, things are off to a kick and start.

Right on.

So, happy belated birthday.

Thank you very much.

Woo!

This deserves a round of applause.

I'm all growed up.

I'm not Young Hollywood anymore.

You are.

I'm Young Hollywood but I'm not Young Hollywood.

You are Young Hollywood.

Well, it's an attitude and you have the

I definitely have the attitude down.

You do.

Yeah, I get that all the time.

For my birthday, Zack Braff bought me a scooter.

I don't know anybody who has a friend that awesome.

I just so happen to have a really awesome friend who likes to spend money on me sometimes.

Why a scooter?

Like, did you it express interest?

I didn't express I didn't express interest at all but he just thought it'd be funny to see me on a scooter.

That's it really.

Do you ride around LA in like the full on traffic?

Are you that bold?

No, I'm a little scared of traffic cuz you know, you get hit on a scooter.

Yeah, you got a big show that you got to shoot.

Yeah, it's not a fall that I'm I'm willing to take.

But, I did ride around the canyon a little bit.

So, I saw something.

You had a dart, was it a Darth Vader cape or something?

No, it was Black Stormtrooper.

I'm sorry, I didn't catch your name.

They call me Black Stormtrooper.

Okay.

So, I got really involved in stop motion animation.

I don't know how.

I just, well, I do know how.

My mom put me in a program when I was a kid.

And after school program.

And I loved it.

And so, I became an actor, moved out to Los Angeles.

Uh, hung out with Seth Green a few times.

We became really good friends.

He all of a sudden created Robot Chicken.

And uh, I interned at his company for like a year.

And then from that, I was like, "I think I'm ready to start my own project."

And since then, Black Stormtrooper.

Black Stormtrooper.

So, The Exes.

The Exes.

Yes.

Season two.

Season two.

It's awesome.

Do things change in season two?

Do you walk on set like day one of season two and you're just all like

It's the same pretty much.

We want to get to season three, you know what I mean?

That's That's where we're at with it all, you know.

Season one, we just want to get to season two.

Season two, we want to make it to season three.

And such an amazing cast.

It's a great cast.

I work with really awesome people.

And all you're all from successful shows.

You're all from

Yeah.

You know.

Uh, Wayne Knight's from Seinfeld and 3rd Rock.

Newman.

Yeah, Newman.

Newman.

And uh, you know, Kristen Johnston, she was on 3rd Rock.

She won two Emmys as the character she played on 3rd Rock.

So, yeah, that's kinda cool to and then Kelly Stables was on Two and a Half Men for a long time.

So, it's really good to really great to walk into work and be with vets, you know what I mean?

People who know exactly what they're doing.

So, in the show, you're living with some dudes.

Yeah.

Okay, so the show's about uh, three divorced guys, newly divorced guys living in the same apartment.

Yes.

Their landlord is their divorce attorney.

Uh, and she's the one that puts them in their their brand new apartment.

Obviously, she's not a good divorce attorney.

Uh, because they're broke.

But why would you want to go from living with, I mean, you'd think it would be better off just staying in the marriage and just not having to go and live with the dudes.

You ever been married?

No.

All right, enough said.

Enough said.

Women don't want cheesy lines and sleazy innuendo.

Okay?

They want to be listened to and understood.

They want a man who's smart and caring and sensitive.

Nope, that's what women think they want.

When it comes down to it, you want a man who's gonna put it on you.

You want a man who's gonna take you there.

You want a man with a little bit of bout.

Based on the show, if you have found out since then, do you find out like if you're a good roommate or not?

Like if you'd make a good roommate?

I'm a horrible roommate.

Really?

I'm sure of it.

I'm absolutely positive I'm a horrible roommate.

Zack Braff and I spent a summer living together.

Okay.

In New York City and he'll tell you I'm the worst roommate on the planet.

What makes you a bad roommate?

I just don't like to pick up after myself.

Got it.

It's pretty gross.

Really?

Well, I'm better now.

I was a kid then.

So, it's messy and dirty or just messy.

No, it's just that I might leave my my, you know, sneakers in the living room or my socks.

or my underwear socks.

Okay, now we're now we're getting the real story.

Right.

But it's just cuz, you know, that's where I took 'em off.

And why should you pick them up?

What do you get recognized for most?

Cuz you've been on so many shows, you've been so many movies.

Like I'm sure Scrubs is a big one.

Yeah, I get a lot of Turk.

Turk.

Turk.

Or Black Scrubs.

Black Scrubs.

Oh snap, it's Black Scrubs.

Or the black guy from Scrubs.

I get a lot of clueless.

Yo, Clueless.

What up Clueless?

Can I throw one out there?

Yeah.

Felicity.

Woo!

I don't ever get that.

I never get that.

That's so awesome.

Very excited for you, excited for the show.

I'm so excited for the show.

Second season, can't wait.

The Exes.

Did you just put it in quotes?

I went no, second two.

Oh, two, two.

And peace.

Thanks Mr. Faison so much for having me.
