What's going on guys? Hanging out here at Billboards Women in Music and I'm going to talk to you some powerful ladies. Girl, we haven't seen you in a minute. What's been going on?
Uh, a lot. A lot has been going on. I just released a new single called new and I put the music video out too. I just performed it on Ellen yesterday and it felt just really good, really organic. I was I played a big part in the creative and the sound and the visuals and everything so it was exciting for me.
My newest one is this one. My parents hate this one because it says she's sad and she's saying love me and they think that they've done something wrong in my childhood. They really haven't.
Those are rad. I love those. And I love this one here the moon.
Thank you my moon. Yes, my little sneaky moon. Yes, I've always wanted to like fill it with glitter or something. I'll do that.
You should do it cuz your lips are glittery.
Yes I should have done it. I was poor poor foresight on my part but Next time.
Next time. You guys are my faves so. She was tweeting us and putting on her social we are their faves. You're our fave. You are. Yeah, you're my fave. I meant it. We are still so obsessed with wasted youth and you should talk. I mean we've been all been watching it in the studio your performance. How does it feel to be at such an important event for for women in music?
Um, it feels really really special to be here right now, especially kind of the time that we are in and you know where the music industry is at the moment and um, I feel like it's just there's just such a crazy palpable energy here tonight and it feels really incredible to like be a part of this evening. I I can't really believe that I get to sit in the room with these people. They're so amazing and I am consistently inspired by basically every single person in there, so I'm like really excited.
I bet Selena Gomez looks beautiful. Like I know I already know it. I haven't even seen her. I know she looks amazing. What woman here do you think inspires you the most in terms of music?
Um, tonight particularly, Kelly Clarkson is pretty amazing but also I really really really love Kehlani. Like her music is some of my favorite and I think the way she talks about herself and her life on social media is is really really important for young people particularly young women to see so I'm really excited to hopefully meet her. I'm going to find her. I'm going to do it.
You tell I'll say hey if you do.
Of course I will.
Well I think being a woman's really fun. So what do you what's your favorite part about being a woman in music?
Ooh, um, this, this eyeliner right here. Dancing. Like I always wanted to be I always wanted to be a pop star and I always wanted to like do choreographed dances and do that for it was like the thing that I looked forward to the most and studied and watched for so long. So I am so excited to be doing it every night on stage. It's the coolest thing.
The most fun part about being a woman is that you get to just be whoever you want to be express our sexuality. We go out with your dance move right now. I know this dress isn't really forgiving but I'll give you a little yeah I can't I can't do a whole lot in this dress but I just think that we're in such a incredible time right now where women are just expressing themselves and being badasses in in the music industry and I think we're going to see a lot more of that and um I love being a woman and you get to just like dress up and do whatever you want. I mean girls just want to have fun, right?
Yeah exactly girls just want to have fun. How do you think music can change the world?
Music has been changing the world. It's the uh, freest form of art that we have. It frees your soul. It frees your nature. That's how we do.
Through music a lot of things are said and we are able to communicate um a lot that you know we're maybe not able to do through just speaking and talking. Um I think music is the universal language much like love is and uh I think it's just kind of one thing that we all can unite and um understand that everybody in the world has such an appreciation and love for music. And uh I think that it can heal the world because it's something that we all understand and something that we all really love.
