Welcome to Young Hollywood. The Theophilus, The Theophilus London. Hey guys, Jessica Smith here with the very talented and when I tell you talented, he's like everywhere. Mr. Theophilus London, how are you?
Hey, I'm good. How are you doing?
I'm doing good. Now, before camera, we were talking like you already need a double. Tell me about your week.
I'm acting crazy, uh. It's been a lot of air mileage, let me tell you that. Um, waking up in a place, having seven things to do as soon as you get off the plane. There's been no personal time to myself, it's been all to this record. That's amazing, man. This is what I dreamed of. This is this is my moment, man. But, uh, currently I'm looking for a double.
Your single, last name London, is like super, super, super catchy. What was like the reason behind like putting that out first?
Well, I wanted last name London to be the first representation of the album. Which a lot of people don't know, too. Uh, those lyrics were the first lyrics I wrote in my life four years ago. I had this one song. It's like, how can I lose? Never holding me, your side of you is last name London, first name Theophilus. You know, and I was like, I want to pay homage to that.
I heard that a show in France, Le Grand Journal, like, You got on that and evidently it's like the hardest thing to book. But they love you. They're like the biggest acts in the world like cannot book that. Tell me a little bit that about that, because you have like great international fans.
Oh man, well we I started off, for if it's tied to Warner Brothers, man, I started off going to London. I've been to London more times than Lil Wayne and Drake put together actually. If you think about it. But, uh, you know, uh, the people in Europe, they really gravitate towards my early mixtapes and you know, I had tour I toured before my album came out four or five times and in France, they love it, man. You know, they they don't they don't even speak English in some of the places I go to in France where it's a straight French only. But everyone's singing all the lyrics to them. And chocolate is flying overseas. It's just so humbling to see like France has become my backyard. You know, I've been there seven times, eight times this year. You know, it's just like I got friends and family out there. It's like, you know, I might have a dog and a kid out there, you know what I'm saying? Like You just haven't found out yet.
Let's talk about your mixtapes. I think your video for oops is like a walking extends like slash Viagra commercial. Like, Oh my God. What Did you come up with that concept or do you like I'm just gonna turn the world on right now? Like this is what's gonna happen.
Hey, I just said yes. I just said yes to the idea. Um, it came about because, uh, Lindsay was shooting before she went into rehab like shooting for some magazine. You know, Lindsay was I used to really be into a lot. You know, until she started getting crazy. Right, she used to be my girl. And uh, she's still my girl. I love you Lindsay. I love you. I love you so much. She did this very sexy shoot. And the director was like, Yo Lindsay, check out oops and she heard it and like she got the okay to put it in the song. So, it was just like, it wasn't even a music video for it. It's supposed to be like a stylistic piece that turned into some music video and it went viral. So E! News started calling me like, we need a statement. Where's Lindsay right now? How is she like making sex videos while she's in rehab? It was like so hot to see her making out with like gay gay boys and just like do lines off a dude's back and just like show nipples. Like, I just want to keep making more erotic music like that. Planned into my second album, just more sex driven jams.
You did Whitney Houston also, which she's one of your idols, correct?
Yeah, yes, yeah. Yeah, she was. Growing up as a kid, man, I had a large Whitney. Her voice was amazing, and The Bodyguard movie is incredible. I wanted her to be my girlfriend. At the time I was only like eight or nine. I fantasized about her all the time. When I made my my second mixtape, I just wanted to pay homage to her in that amazing song. It's like, this song has never been played in the club. And I wanted it to be played in the club.
What is your like the one thing that you cannot live without?
One thing I can't live without is a phone. But I'm learning to right now. So it's inspired by Kanye. I was hanging out with him a couple weeks ago. He never has a phone. It's all about real time. If I'm talking to you right now, I'm not pulling out my phone to look at emails or Twitter.
I'd smack it away from you if you did. I'd be like, we're in an interview, boy. Put that thing away.
Right, right. No, but what if we weren't in an interview and just like we're right at a bar right now and he's checking his see my light in my face. I want that human time with you, you know what I'm saying?
The one place that you haven't been that you would love to go to for a tour. 'Cause I know you're getting ready to go on tour in like Montreal and Berlin.
Yeah, and all these places. Yeah. Yeah, almost everywhere, but the part I would love to go to, Russia. You know, Russia. Man, we're ready to tour this record. Looking sexy while doing so. And then get ready for LP 2. What's up, man? It's Theophilus London. I want to make a big shout out to Young Hollywood. You feel me? Swag.
