Zendaya Coleman is new face of Madonna's Material Girl

Disney star Zendaya Coleman has landed second major role in a week after Madonna named the teen the latest face of her fashion brand Material Girl.

The 17-year-old Shake It Up! actress' new gig was announced on Thursday (19Jun14), as new ads featuring Coleman modeling Material Girl designs on Brooklyn's famous Coney Island boardwalk were unveiled.

The queen of pop praised the teen actress in a statement which reads: "Zendaya exudes a confident, free spirit. We love having her as the new face of Material Girl," while her daughter Lourdes Leon, who also makes design decisions for the company, also gushed over the brand's new spokesperson, adding, "I love how Zendaya makes her own style rules to fit her personality - that's who Material Girl is all about, being yourself to the fullest".

Coleman follows in the footsteps of previous Material Girl models Rita Ora, Taylor Momsen and Georgia May Jagger.

Earlier this week (beg16Jun14), the actress/singer snagged the role of tragic R&B singer Aaliyah in an upcoming TV biopic.
