Rihanna shares home video with fans
Rihanna has offered fans an intimate look into her private life by releasing a touching video shot at home with her family in Barbados.
In the footage, Rihanna can be seen poring over her baby pictures, yearbooks and school report cards with her mum and grandmother.
She also defends her younger brother Rajad after he is scolded for
being lazy at school, telling him, "Don't listen to mummy, you
gotta socialise. You just have to have the sickest, illest (sic)
balance - you've got to be able to do as much work (as possible)
and then socialise. But work first and as long as you're doing
fantastic in work, you can socialise as much as you want."
In the most emotional moment of the clip, which is narrated by
Jay-Z, Rihanna hands her grandmother, who she affectionately calls
Gran-Gran, a very special piece of jewellery.
She says, "Gran-Gran, I got you a gift. Remember when I was a
little girl, you kept saying, '(I want an) eternity ring, eternity
ring.' I was like nine years old. I went to the store and I
remember asking the person, it was like $1,020. I remember counting
how many days I would have to save a dollar from school to get this
ring. I said, 'By 12, I should be able to buy this ring.' That went
through the window! But I found you a very beautiful one at
Cartier. And we have matching ones!"
