Rachel McAdams grateful for Philip Seymour Hoffman's tutoring

Rachel Mcadams is grateful she was given the chance to work with Philip Seymour Hoffman on one of his final films, because the late actor became a mentor onset.

The Notebook star filmed spy thriller A Most Wanted Man with the Oscar winner a year before he died from a drug overdose, and McAdams reveals he taught her a lot about acting.

She tells Allure magazine, "I learned so much from him. He really takes you under... he really took me under his wing. You feel very taken care of, but at the same time there's an element of danger: There's a crackle in every scene. He makes sure the stakes are very high, and there's a safety there, too. He had so much natural, raw talent, but he worked so hard, too. He really worked for it and didn't let up. I'm sure that wasn't easy."

Hoffman passed away in February (14) at the age of 46. A Most Wanted Man is among his final films along with the last installments of The Hunger Games franchise, which he was working on at the time of his death.
