Pretty Little Liars to end with seventh season
TV teen drama Pretty Little Liars is to end following its current seventh season.
Executive producer I. Marlene King and the TV thriller's main stars, Lucy Hale, Troian Bellisario, Shay Mitchell, Sasha Pieterse, and Ashley Benson, made the announcement during a Facebook Live chat on Monday (29Aug16), revealing the final 10 episodes will air from April (17).
Hale said, "It's bittersweet. It's been such an amazing chapter of
our lives, and we're so glad that you guys can share it with us,
but you know, all good things must come to an end. And these last
10 episodes are pretty crazy. We're going out with a bang."
"It's been an honor to work with such a talented cast and crew over
the last seven years," King added in a statement. "We are a family,
and it will be hard to say goodbye to a show that has made such an
impact on young audiences and been a mouthpiece for cultural
change. I’m excited for fans to finally have all of their questions
answered, and I believe they will be satisfied with the wild ride
that is our last ten episodes."
The season seven summer finale airs in the U.S. on Tuesday
(30Aug16), and next year's (17) series finale will be a special
two-hour episode.
Pretty Little Liars, which launched in 2010, is loosely based on
the book franchise of the same name written by Sara Shepard.
The show has picked up four People's Choice Awards and an
impressive 36 Teen Choice Awards, and it also became a social media
phenomenon, holding the record for the six most-tweeted scripted
telecasts in TV history.
