Marc Cherry: 'No plans for Housewives movie'

Written by . Published: January 11 2012

Producer Marc Cherry has no plans to resurrect his hit TV show Desperate Housewives with a movie after the series ends for good this year (12), insisting he is "done" with the characters.

MArc Cherry considered the idea of a film follow-up for his show after a chat with Michael Patrick King, who helped create the successful Sex and the City movie and its sequel.

However, Marc Cherry conceded that viewers already knew too much about the Desperate Housewives, played by Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman, Marcia Cross and Eva Longoria, to warrant a big screen outing.

He tells reporters, "Sex and the City only did like 69 episodes. The advantage for them was they hadn't really plumbed the depths of those characters.

"After eight years, I think we're done. I'm happy about it. It's not a bad thing. I feel very satisfied with where we are."

The drama will end after the current eighth season.
