Demi Lovato reflects on rehab at Thanksgiving
Demi Lovato was delighted to join her family for Thanksgiving on Thursday (24Nov11), as she was stuck in rehab over the holiday last year (10).
The singer/actress enrolled at a specialist clinic to seek professional help for a number of personal problems including bipolar disorder, self-harming and bulimia, and she spent several months separated from her loved ones.
The 19 year old missed out on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New
Year's Eve, and she is happy to be at home in her native Texas this
year (11) to celebrate the festive season with her family.
She has even signed up to perform in her hometown of Dallas over
the weekend (25-27Nov11).
In her blog for Seventeen magazine, Lovato writes, "As many of you
know, last year at this time, I was in treatment. I spent
Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year's Eve away from my home and
family which is why I am so excited to be with them this year.
Thinking about how far I have come in a year makes me so
thankful...
"I am even going to perform in my hometown, Dallas, over the
Thanksgiving holiday. I am so excited to spend Thanksgiving with my
family in Texas... I am so thankful that I am healthy and happy
this year. I no longer take things for granted, like my family,
friends, fans and career...
"Sometimes people get busy and forget to enjoy the moment - but I
know I will not do that this holiday season. I have worked very
hard to get to the place I am today and I am going to enjoy every
minute of it! I wish all of you a very happy and healthy
Thanksgiving."
