Mary J. Blige, Eva Longoria and Lea Michele were among the stars honored for their charity work at Variety magazine's third annual Power of Women event.

Actresses Olivia Wilde and Annette Bening were also feted for their contributions at the ceremony on Friday (23Sep11).

Each star appeared on behalf of causes close to their hearts, with Longoria representing her organization Eva's Heroes and Wilde visiting for Artists for Peace and Justice.

Glee star Lea Michele, a native New Yorker, spoke about her work with animal rights campaigners at PETA, telling the audience, "If there's a lesson to be learned from today, it's that we all have a voice. Now, I'm very familiar with this because I'm from the Bronx where everyone has a voice and it's usually very, very loud."

Blige was the last to step on stage to discuss her Foundation For the Advancement of Women Now (FFAWN) organization, which she co-founded to help young women who have suffered from abuse as a victim herself.
