Adele scraps remaining 2011 performances
British soul sensation Adele has cancelled the remainder of her 2011 performances to undergo surgery for an ongoing throat problem.
The Chasing Pavements hitmaker axed gigs in her native Britain in September (11) as she tried to overcome a chest infection, but the strain on her voice became too much and she scrapped her 10-date American trek, which was due to kick off earlier this month (Oct11).
Adele rescheduled the shows for a later date but she's now changed
her mind and cancelled all live performances for the rest of the
year so she can completely rest her vocal cords.
A statement on the singer's official website reads, "It is with
deep regret that Adele has been forced to cancel her remaining live
dates and promotional appearances in 2011.
"She is to undergo surgery to alleviate the current issues with her
throat and a full recovery is expected. As a result, doctors have
ordered her to rest her voice and completely recuperate before
looking to schedule any work commitments."
Ticketholders for all shows have been offered refunds for the axed
concerts.
